With the deadline for IT returns set to expire in a few days, taxpayers are urging the government to extend the deadline.
The hashtag #Extend_Due_Date_Immediately became trending on Twitter in the wake of this. In fact, the tax payment for the 2021-22 assessment year ends on July 31 of this year. However, due to technical issues in the IT portal, the government has extended it till December 31. In this context, tweets were made highlighting the IT issues. The deadline of December 31 is not enough for the portal developers but for the taxpayers. Others took screenshots of IT portal issues and posted them on Twitter.
On the other hand, the Income Tax Department said that as of December 27. The 4,67,45,249 people had filed ITRs. It was revealed that more than 15 lakh returns were filed in a single day yesterday.
